Closed captioning is an accessibility game changer. Never before has creating effective, accessible eLearning been so simple. One of the newest features to Articulate Storyline 360, Closed Captioning certainly gets the Omniplex seal of approval.

In last week’s webinar, Helen Tyson, Instructional Designer at Omniplex, walked us through closed captioning in Articulate Storyline, including accessibility standards and how they apply in eLearning.

The key set of accessibility standards covered in our webinar are:

  • WCAG 2.0 (Web Content Accessibility Guideline) are produced by the World Wide Web Consortium for improving the accessibility of websites and web based content. There are 4 key principals to WCAG 2.0; Perceivable, Operable, Understandable and Robust.
  • Section 508 is the US legislation which covers the accessibility of electronic and IT systems and content, ensuring it is accessible for people with disabilities.
  • The Equality Act 2010, which replaced the disability discrimination act in the UK, which states that employers have a duty of care to remove barriers to access.

To learn how to use closed captioning in your eLearning, including text alternatives and pre-recorded video or audio captions, watch the recorded webinar below. If you have any queries or questions, please contact us at [email protected]
